NZT Walking Tours with a DifferenceFounder/Director Alan Riegelman travelled to the South Island in 1984 to fish for trout, and then spent an entire year roaming and backpacking in the backcountry before becoming a NZ citizen and founding NZT. Right from the start, he determined that NZT tours should be like family outings to off-the-beaten path locations and not simply unimaginative coach tours to the same old, tired tourist attractions. Not only are New Zealand tours our specialty, they are ALL WE DO. We entertain you in our own home as personal guests, and your B&B stays are with our friends and neighbours.
Small, Friendly Groups and Lots of Attention NZT provides a leader for every six travellers, and we give you lots of personal attention. We cater to vegetarians and those with other special dietary needs, and we mail a questionnaire to all our customers in advance to learn their interests and personal preferences. About Jan King, NZT Owner Jan originated from the UK and has travelled extensively around New Zealand. She first emigrated to New Zealand in 1985 and lived in the North Island, near Wellington, for four years before returning to the UK. In 2003 Jan travelled to NZ for a holiday, re-kindled her love for the country so much and finally emigrated with her partner, Steve in October 2003. Steve, keeps the home fires burning while Jan is away on tour and they have two boxer dogs - Henry and Zac who are very sociable! They also run Cable Bay Bed and Breakfast. Click here to visit our web site About Your Leaders Our leaders are mature adults, most of whom have been with NZT for years and are experienced in caring for your needs. Myra Boyd Myra is an experienced tour guide who has led walking tours with NZT for over 13 years. She has a wealth of knowledge having day hiked and backpacked in remote New Zealand for many years. Myra lives in Ruby Bay near Nelson and enjoys horse riding along the beach. She has a great sense of humour and zest for life!
