Local Walking Tours - Nelson and Tasman
For those who
would like to explore the Nelson/Marlborough region but have limited time we
provide a number of day hiking options and flexible itineraries.
Stay at our accommodation - Cable Bay Bed & Breakfast,

rural valley location.
Day Trips Cable Bay Walkway (approx. 4 hours one way, steep in places) Right on our door step, there are wonderful coastal views of the Boulder Bank, Nelson City, Kahurangi and Abel Tasman National Parks and Cable Bay. The middle section of the track passes through a patch of beautiful and varied native forest. Pelorus Bridge Scenic Reserve (Trig Walk, approx. 4 hours)Great walk through natural bush to a wonderful viewing area. Nelson Lakes National Park (variety of lakeside and bush walks)
Kahurangi National Park - Mount Arthur Track (approx. 4 hours) Enjoy panoramic views and beech forest following the ridge to Mount Arthur Hut.
Queen Charlotte Track (various options)
Early start from Cable Bay to cruise the beautiful Queen Charlotte Sound to Ship Cove and experience the wonderful bird sanctuary at Motuara Island. 15 mins stop at Ship Cove to view Captain Cook monument and information panels.
Option 1: Cruise to Furneaux Lodge for lunch/relaxation/swim and return by the mail boat.
Option 2: Walk from Ship Cove to Furneaux Lodge (approx. 5 hours moderate)
Option 3: Cruise from Ship Cove to Resolution Bay. Walk to Furneaux Lodge (approx. 3 hours - easy).
