New Zealand Travellers provide walking tours of the South & North Islands of New Zealand. Our small group tours are eco-friendly, non-touristy, off the beaten track for discerning, nature-lovers.

This is the tour for you if you enjoy day hiking in the spectacular scenery of New Zealand!

We stay at comfortable accommodations and enjoy fine cuisine in restaurants under the leadership of Jan King who took the business over in 2007.

NZT tours are like family outings to off-the-beaten path locations and not simply unimaginative coach tours to the same old, tired tourist attractions.

We'll take you to:

• a hidden mountain forest of towering trees that are more than 1,000 years old.

• Abel Tasman National Park for a coastal path walk and cruise

• view the sleeping seals at Kaikoura peninsula.

• a Safari jetboat ride to white heron and spoonbill sanctuary - spectacular flora & fauna

• hike to the face of Fox Glacier

• cruise along Milford Sound - excellent viewing of waterfalls, rainforest and mountains, bottlenose dolphins, fur seals, penguins

• day walk to the base of Mount Cook, NZ's highest peak

Good Food and Tasteful Accommodations are Crucial
We enjoying an incredible array of New Zealand foods including fresh fish, steak, lamb and the South Island's fantastic fresh veggies and fruits.

We stay in B&Bs, beach-front motels, bed and breakfasts and lodges most of which have hosted NZT groups for many years.

We at NZT do only New Zealand hiking tours, unlike other tour companies with a long list of destinations. We assiduously avoid touristy locations and over-crowded, over-publicized tourist attractions.

Dayhiking
There are no fixed distances on dayhiking trips. We provide options for shorter or longer walks. You walk as much or as little as you choose.

Dates & Prices
We offer 10 or 14 day tours. All walking tours begin in Nelson and conclude in Christchurch or Queenstown. Have a look at our Dates & Prices section. Alternatively we can provide a 12 day tour to incorporate Milford Sound or 16 days to include Akaroa on the Banks Peninsula.
